ROAD TRIP

Road Trip has developed a huge regional following by mastering the two key elements of rock and roll: diversity and energy.

Road Trip's musical diversity is made evident by their extensive song list. Their cover songs encompass music from the birth of rock and roll in the fifties right up to the best music of today. This diversity can also be heard in the band's original material found on their 2001 release Please Disturb, 1999's Cowboys and Maniacs, and their two previous releases (both out of print), as well as Amy's 2005 release Murry Tracks. The variety of material performed is greatly enhanced by having both a male and a female lead vocalist: Rich Plath and Amy Johnson.

Road Trip is also in a class by itself when it comes to the energy of each performance. Continuous scheduling has made these musicians more comfortable on stage than anywhere else, they have a great time when they're performing and that energy becomes infectious. Every member of Road Trip is a consummate professional and the integrity of the music is never compromised, when you watch Road Trip the fun and energy coming off stage are complimented by some of the Midwest's finest music being performed by some of the Midwest's finest musicians - there are no weak links in this band. In addition, the unexpected is always possible as the members all believe in letting their creative spontaneity show through. Their down-to-earth attitude is never phony, and the members love to mingle with the crowd during breaks meeting new people and making new fans and friends.

SuperTuesday

Formed in 1996 as a four piece alternative rock band, SuperTuesday cut their teeth performing around Madison at influential house parties, barns & loading docks. So they've been hosting some of the largest parties around Southern Wisconsin for awhile. Now they're bringing their drink-raising, dance-a-billy, funfest skills to the next level.
Welcome to the SuperCircus.

Today, SuperTuesday takes their cues from artists like Bon Jovi, Jason Aldean, Journey, Little Big Town, Bryan Adams, Sugarland, Michael Jackson, Poison, and Bruno Mars just to name a few. Performances are more fun than a barrel of monkeys, thanks to slightly crazy fans and a fair amount of Bud Light and
Captain Morgan.

About the band

Mellencamp…

Ask any of the thousands of people throughout The Midwest who have witnessed a Pink Houses show and it’s likely that you’ll get a reply suggesting that this eleven-piece band is the next thing to the real deal.

Consider this…

How many self-described tribute bands actually get to perform for their particular artist’s hometown fan-base under the guise of that artist’s “Ultimate Tribute Band” and then pull it off not just once, but two years in a row?

Pink Houses has.

While being billed as "The Ultimate Tribute Band- From Cougar to Mellencamp”, they took their show and The Man’s music directly to Chestnut Street in Seymour, Indiana- winning The Small Town’s adoration, both 2010 and 2011.

Make no mistake. This Band ROCKS!

And for a Small Town dentist from Edgerton, WI who thought big, spent countless hours recruiting and rehearsing the right musicians, promoting and then leading Pink Houses to the top of the game, it all came as really no surprise…

As a twenty-year veteran of The Midwest’s ruff and tumble Rock & Roll and Metal scene, Tom Reitz knew first-hand of the many challenges faced in trying rise to the top of that genre of music.  In looking for something different, he wanted to put together a larger show, with more musicians, which in turn, would get broader audience attention and ultimately bigger and better gigs.

We liked the idea of a larger band and when everything was said and done, it came down to Mellencamp because he has such a wide audience appeal,” Reitz said back in 2003 adding, “plus we’d be the only game in town.”

Over the years since, that decision has proven to be the right one time and time again. As other acts have come and gone, Pink Houses continues to pay- and play, tribute to the music that has been immortalized within ourAmerican Fabric.  Just before the band’s sound check in Seymour back in 2010, Guitarist P-Jay Johnson, described it to a local reporter this way: “…there’s a little bit of all of us within the themes of his songs and the music is very cleverly laid out, which seems to be the catch…we can all relate to it.”

Several of their Seymour fans, (who actually know The Man), summed up the Pink Houses 2011performance there with- “those guys played Johnny’s music right”

                                                                                                                                     …shouldn’t they know?

And More…

As The Pink Houses Family began to evolve over the years, the one constant has always been toproduce a professional show with all of the trueness of The Classic Mellencamp Live Performances.

This natural evolution has included many fine musicians along the way, who in turn have brought in their own distinct personalities and styles to the Pink Houses show. Always aware of the “what have you done lately” aspect of the business, Reitz began to look at ways to leverage this factor towards the show’s musical content, while maintaining that trueness which has made Pink Houses a Midwest Favorite.

“It seemed like at every show we’d play someone would come up and ask if we knew this tune or that tune,” Reitzstates, adding “and at times for tunes that are not from the Mellencamp Catalogue. But with some of them, we’d all look at each other for a second like; well that’s not a bad idea..…so it kind of got me thinking, you know?”  Loppy Loppnow, Pink Houses drummer, is quick to add that “This guy (Reitz) is like a blender when it comes to ideas…add the right ingredients and some good material will always pour out!”

Loppnow’s comment describes exactly how some of the recently-added and non-Mellencamp material made it onto this year’s tour set list- that includes some medleys that Reitz enthusiastically describes as “of Super Nova proportions!”  Pink Houses has always had some really great players and singers (including Tom’s brother Jeff on percussion and sax for five years)…the chemistry has always been great …they’ve all helped get this band to where it is now and that’s not always easy with eleven players and a four-man sound and lighting crew…”

Looking ahead, Reitz is especially excited about the current Pink Houses line-up, which includes more than a few players that are of solid professional pedigree.  “I can throw anything at this bunch and they’ll nail-it” he proudly exclaims, adding that “as I keep raising the bar they just keep on clearing the height…it’s phenomenal!  The possibilities seem endless!”

When pressed if this new chapter of Pink Houses could somehow compromise the trueness of “The Ultimate Tribute Band- From Cougar to Mellencamp,” Reitz is quick to reply “Not at all. The audience will still hear the favorites…all of the tunes that they come out for in the first place.”   After a short pause he offers this analogy: “Do you know the tune R.O.C.K. In The USA?... the spirit of that song lives in just about any band” emphasizing “and probably more so in Pink Houses because of who we are and what we do….

…and believe me when I say that same spirit lives within our audiences and fans too!”

Erika Reed - Lead Vocals
Erika Reed grew up listening to her father play in multiple bands, and realized at age 9 that she wanted to follow in his footsteps. From various choirs, to auditions and competitions, Erika has been chasing her musical dream ever since. She even moved to Los Angeles where she enjoyed a moment in an all-girl group. Since returning to her midwest roots, Erika finally has the opportunity to do exactly what she's always wanted to do...sing in a country band with her father, Lance! She is so excited to be on this journey, and she can't wait for everyone to hear what Gypsy Holler has to offer.

Amber Dawn - Lead Vocals
Amber has been singing her whole life and began classical voice training at age 11. She was involved in countless performing groups, musical productions, and competitions from preschool through college.
Amber's country music influences include a broad range of artists such as Alison Krauss, Martina McBride, Katrina Elam and Trisha Yearwood.

Before moving to Madison in 2008, Amber performed in Columbus, OH in the WNCI 97.9 Morning Zoo's "Diva's" competition and on "Gimme The Mike Columbus" which aired on WSYX (ABC 6) and WTTE (FOX 28).  Amber also spent time in Nashville recording at Omnisound Studio.

Lance is a well-known veteran of the music scene. He has established himself as a formidable player and writer developing interest both regionally and nationally in his performing and studio work.

Mike Johnston - Lead Guitar/Vocals
Mike started playing guitar at 8 years old.  By the time he was 12, he was playing full time in his father’s country band.  For the past 25 years, Mike’s “day gig” has been running Paradise Guitars, a guitar specialty store in Beloit, WI, which he owns.  Alongside the store, he has played in various musical projects ranging from southern rock and metal bands to currently being the newest member of Gypsy Holler.  Mike invites you to come out and experience a high-energy show that you won’t soon forget!!!

Eric Jazdzewski - Drums/Vocals
Eric, at 6 years old, persuaded his father to teach him a few chords after hearing him play Chet Atkins, Glen Campbell, and Jerry Reed songs on acoustic guitar.

He continued with guitar and harmony singing, but at age 10 started playing drums as well.  After his first band at 20, and several rock, pop, and country bands later, (including many years with "Wade Vincent Root"), Eric continues to be held in high regard because of his multi-instrument and harmony singing talents.  He is very excited to ultimately be a part of the energetic, musically artful, and highly vocally talented, "Gypsy Holler".

David Sage - Rhythm Guitar
David has been playing guitar in various southern Wisconsin bands for the past 25 years.  Some of the groups he's played in include The Narly Barly Boys, Shiloh, The Joe Slam Band, Whiskey Station, Pink Houses and The New Rebels.
