This trio is about giving a time-proven classic setting - That of the keyboard, bass and drums trio - to great songs. It is about virtuosity. Add to that the voice and songs of James Kishline. He has an extensive and varied background in pop, jazz and blues music - And he brings together those sensibilities, as well as his original music, in this group. The other two members of this group, pianist Joel Freisinger and drummer Michael Murphy, are - quite simply - the very best musicians at their respective roles that Kishline has worked with in the Midwest. Just imagine that the Harry Connick trio also played songs and instrumentals by the Beatles, Eagles, Elton John, The Police, Joe Jackson, Willie Nelson or Elvis Costello - In short, add great material from the past thirty years tot he repertoire of the great show tune standards - Then throw in that jazz/blues feel of the swing trio. This group is not about competing with the four and five piece wedding/variety band.
