The OD TAPO IMI Steel Band from Madison Wisconsin is an 8 member ensemble, featuring 4 Steel Pan players, 3 percussionists, a bass player, and an occasional 4 piece horn section. OD TAPO IMI performs a number of original songs and blends the sounds of the islands with a wide variety of musical styles, including calypso, soca, jazz, pop/rock, ballads, and even Polkas! In addition to many live performances in the Midwest and a successful tour of Germany and the Netherlands in the summer of 1997, they have enjoyed success with their 4 studio recording projects. OD TAPO IMI's European tour in June of 1997 was a huge success. Excellent reviews and wonderful receptions in every city they visited. And they had a ball doing it! The OD TAPO IMI Steel Band re-visited the studio for their 4th project, a new CD recording titled "Big Bamboo". It is a collection of familiar songs, some original material, and more of the energy, musical excellence and entertainment fans have come to expect. This project was recorded and mixed at Terra Nova Sound Studios in Madison, and released in April of 1998. Specialty Bands |
