WEDDING & CORPORATE BAND LISTING |
Music is important to most couples; it is an integral
part of most wedding ceremonies and receptions. A multitude of musical
choices exist, and each selection is a sure way to personalize the day.
Music helps create the mood desired by the bride and groom. It is a very
noticeable reflection of their personal tastes. And don't forget that music
directly influences guests and the way they celebrate at the reception.
THE WEDDING CEREMONY Most engaged couples think about the ceremonial music first. Before anything, they should meet with their clergy member to discuss local customs and regulations. Some clergy and churches restrict the music played during ceremonies. The clergyman can also help by giving the couple the name of the church organist and by recommending some soloists. After reserving the church or any other alternative site, the bride and groom should decide on the type of wedding they want to have. FORMAL WEDDINGS Formal weddings traditionally feature music at these six times: The Prelude - This provides appropriate background music while the guests are ushered in and helps set the desired mood for the wedding. Generally the prelude begins 30 minutes before the processional . The First Solo - A song that also helps to set the desired mood, usually is sung after the bride's mother is seated. The Processional - The traditional song of announcement, played while the wedding party members and the bride walk to the altar. The second Solo - Played immediately following the recital of the vows. This is a personal, meaningful song, special to the bride and groom. The Recessional - This should be lively, celebratory piece heralding the new couple. A Postlude - The postlude entertains the guests as they are ushered out. In some locations, the postlude can be heard in the receiving line also. INFORMAL WEDDINGS Informal Wedding music choices are as diverse as you can imagine. Indeed, the type of music and when it is played is restricted only by the bride and grooms imaginations. Turn to advice from your musicians, it's what they do, they are professionals. BOOKING THE MUSICIANS The traditional church wedding usually employs an organist or pianist, who is sometimes accompanied by a vocalist for one or two songs. Organists and pianists are often joined by other musicians at wedding ceremonies. Some of the variations include church choirs, brass ensembles, singers and instruments such as flute, guitar, harpsichord, trumpet, violin, cello and harp. All are capable of producing lovely wedding melodies. LOCATING MUSICIANS It's what we do! At Open Booing Agency we have over 20 years experience in providing entertainment for a very large percentage of the weddings held in and around South Central Wisconsin. We have access to virtually all of the above mentioned musical ideas and to all the entertainment you can think of for an outstanding wedding ceremony or reception. CHOOSING MUSIC Almost every wedding musician encourages the couple to stay open minded about song and musical choice. In most cases, asking a professional for advise seems to be the practical, intelligent way to choose wedding music. THE WEDDING RECEPTION The reception is similar to the wedding ceremony in that it is also a once-in-a-life-time celebration. While some couples will book a string or brass ensemble to play at both the wedding and reception, many others will have different performers and music for the wedding and reception. The two distinct choices for receptions are bands and Djs. Today, some couples are even choosing both and having non-stop entertainment. Or Karaoke, where their guests become part of the entertainment by singing along to favorite tunesis also a possibility.. Regardless of who provides the reception music, guests often experience a lull between the ceremony and the reception as the wedding party poses for formal photos. May we suggest providing entertainment from the beginning of the reception to entertain guests while awaiting the arrival of the bridal party, and then on thru the rest of the evening. SOME CONSIDERATIONS Many factors should be discussed before the final music decisions are made. These include: The type of reception - Formal sit down dinner, informal buffet or cake and refreshment only? The location - Large hall, small dining room, outdoor courtyard or tent. The capacities and capabilities are important. Is a dance floor available? Is there enough available electricity? The musical preferences of the guests - Big Band, rock, variety, etc. Live or recorded music? BOOKING RECEPTION ENTERTAINMENT Of importance to all people booking Wedding Reception entertainers should be budget, availability and the styles of music performed. Book early is strongly suggested, usually a year or more in advance. Start making arrangements as soon as you know the date. Since music styles, preferences and capabilities differ greatly, a wise couple will make an effort to hear a musician or DJ perform before hiring them. At Open Booking Agency we offer a free service with no obligation. AVOIDING CONFLICTS Careful planning will avert potential conflicts, Getting started as early as possible is a huge step in the right direction to assure you of a smooth progression from beginning to end of your selected entertainment!
